My psychotherapy journey began after my dad lost his battle with cancer. At the time, I was almost a decade into my first career in the corporate world and began experiencing crushing grief, anxiety, and depression. Fortunately, I found a good therapist. Through our work, I realized my depression and anxiety were symptoms of an incongruent life and career. Just over a year after my dad passed, I quit my job, sold my house, and spent a summer in Alaska before relocating to Ireland.

In Ireland, I worked with children, teens, and families from 27 European countries affected by cancer and HIV. This was a life-changing experience for me. I learned that I had the capacity to help people encounter difficult life challenges. I also learned a lot about resilience, connection, and different cultures from the peers I worked alongside and those we served.

After two years in Ireland, I decided it was time to pursue a graduate degree and returned to Minnesota to earn a master’s in psychology. As part of the program, I interned at the Center for Grief in St. Paul, which deepened the capacities I discovered abroad. I continued learning to help individuals, couples, and groups work through complex trauma and grief. I also began a yoga practice and Jungian Analysis to further explore my own growth.

Upon earning my degree, I became Program Director at The Painted Turtle in California. There, I managed a staff of activity leaders and worked with children, teens, and families facing serious illness. One highlight was running a high-ropes challenge course, where we adapted activities to ensure full inclusivity, including for those with mobility challenges.

I returned to Minnesota after two years in California to work as a therapist at The Emily Program. There, I provided individual, group, and family therapy and led intensive outpatient and day treatment programs.

Following a decade of advanced training, education, and clinical experience, I established Rogers Counseling in 2015. My private practice reflects that diverse background — I have worked with a wide range of populations and diagnoses. I believe fit is very important, and if we are not the right match, I am happy to help you find a provider that will better meet your needs.

I am currently seeing clients in person at my office in Bend, Oregon, and via telehealth in Colorado, Minnesota, and Oregon.
